Prestigious research award to Dr Lesley Rameka

 

Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood NZ congratulates its National President, Dr Lesley Rameka, for winning the Te Tohu Pae Tawhiti Award from the New Zealand Association for Research in Education (NZARE).

Dr Rameka won the prestigious NZARE Te Tohu Pae Tawhiti Award for her significant contributions to Māori education by conducting high quality research over an extended period.

Dr Rameka is a Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Education, University of Waikato. She has worked in early childhood education for over 35 years. Her journey began in te kohanga reo, and she has worked for several professional development and tertiary education providers over the years. She has been National President of Te Rito Maioha since 2016 and a member of the Council since 2013.

Dr Rameka has researched, published, and contributed to dozens of publications related to Māori education and early childhood education over the past two decades.

“As an organisation committed to training teachers in evidenced-based bicultural education practices, Te Rito Maioha is extremely proud of Dr Rameka’s achievements,” says Te Rito Maioha Chief Executive Kathy Wolfe.
