Don’t delay: apply to study in 2019 to become an early childhood teacher with Te Rito Maioha now

Applications to study early childhood with Te Rito Maioha in 2019 close in six weeks on 1 December 2018 so don’t delay.

‘We offer a superb range of programmes for people interested in becoming an early childhood teacher and early childhood teachers wanting to continue their studies,’ says Te Rito Maioha Chief Executive, Kathy Wolfe.

‘In 2019, we are offering four new programmes: two Education and Care (ECE) Level 5 Diplomas – Aperfield Montessori and Pasifika, a Bachelor of Education (ECE) and Master of Education (ECE). All our programmes offer career pathways in early learning education to ensure our students and qualified teachers have meaningful and ongoing career progression.

‘The new programmes are in addition to our seven others, including our popular Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) and esteemed Postgraduate Diploma in Leadership (ECE).

‘All our programmes blend online learning with face-to-face block courses, which means you can study from anywhere at any time.

‘What’s also good about us is that most of our programmes have centre-based study requirements, which enable you to study and work at the same time and immediately put what you learn into practice.’

Ms Wolfe says the shortage of ECE teachers in New Zealand means that qualified ECE teachers are in hot demand and employment opportunities significant.

‘ECE centres just cannot get enough qualified teachers at present and I cannot see this situation changing in the short term.

‘Centres appreciate how strong and confident our graduates are in te reo Māori me ngā tikanga Māori (Māori language and protocols) and how well-versed they are in our treasured taonga, the ECE curriculum, Te Whāriki.

‘What’s more, centres love our graduates because they have so much practical experience.’
