Akohia te reo Māori

Begin your te reo Māori journey with Te Rito Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand.

Ahakoa he iti, he pounamu – However small it may seem it is a treasure.

Our workshops and resources will help you gain a basic understanding of te reo Māori pronunciation and sentence structure.  You will learn how to introduce yourself with a basic mihimihi (greeting) and lead and close meetings with traditional karakia (prayer).  You will also learn waiata (song) and phrases to use with the tamariki (children) in your centre.

This programme includes three face-to-face workshops, where you will interact with our pouako (tutors), and have access to an online resource designed to reinforce your learning from the workshops.

You will also get to meet other early learning professionals who are also beginning their te reo Māori journey in your region.

By the end of the programme, you will be confident in using simple te reo Māori with tamariki, whānau and colleagues.
