Toku reo, toku ohooho - My language, my awakening

This webinar will cover some history of te reo Maaori in ECE, Aotearoa and give participants the opportunity to engage in conversations of what they are doing in their own practice/centres. It will also look at ways forward and what kaiako can do to extend their learning of te reo Maaori through online korero with other kaiako in Aotearoa. It also covers how our history/whakapapa can affect the way in which we learn/teach te reo Maaori within ECE in Aotearoa.

This live webinar offers an opportunity for interactive discussions around why te reo Maaori is so important in ECE. 

The expected audience for this webinar would be beginning teachers, centre managers, anyone with no knowledge of or basic knowledge of te reo Maaori. 

Expected goals and learnings:

  1. Understanding of what influences our learning/teaching of te reo Maaori in ECE.
  2. Some strategies to be more confident to speak/share te reo Maaori in Ece/Educational sectors.
  3. Where to from here – places who offer te reo Maaori courses.
  4. Information to be able to share with friends/colleagues/staff in centres.
  5. Interactions/connections with other kaiako/managers/tauira all around Aotearoa.
  6. Creating support networks.
