Biography

Role

Andrea is a member of the Primary team with Te Rito Maioha. She is the Programme Leader for the Bachelor of Teaching (Primary) | Kaiārahi Hōtaka (Kura Tuatahi). 

Education background

Andrea has been an educator for twenty five years. She began her mahi as a kaiako/teacher in the Bay of Plenty. Over her career she has held a variety of roles from class teacher, education advisor, and for the past eight years a tumuaki/principal. She is a trained primary teacher and ECE teacher, with international experience teaching and working in leadership positions in primary and ECE in the UAE and South Korea. 

Research background

Andrea has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Management which focused on growth and change in an educational forum. She has particular interests in learning support through a neurodiverse lens, strengthening educational relationships within education and the impact of high-quality teaching and learning.

Teaching interests

Andrea is extremely passionate about our tamariki and feels it is important that our teaching practices and tool boxes are current and fit the diverse needs of our children. High quality teacher training is the key to making that difference.
