Biography

Role

In her current role as lecturer | kaiako, Jen teaches the Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education). 

Education background

Jen has more than twenty years of experience as an early childhood teacher. She has also worked as a head teacher at the Otago University Childcare Association. She continues to stay connected with the wider ECE community as a strong advocate for tamariki and kaiako within NZEI Te Riu Roa and Ōtepoti Ki Te Raki Kāhui Ako - North Dunedin Community of Learning.

Research background

Jen is currently pursuing Master’s degree in Education (Early Childhood Education) at Te Rito Maioha. She is interested in developing an understanding of the role of Takata Tiriti within teaching and learning to be able to create safe spaces for all tauira and tamariki to thrive.

Teaching interests

Jen believes teaching and learning go together. She is passionate about strength-based collaborative learning experiences.
