Biography
Role
Tiffany teaches in the Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) Programme. Working out of Whanganui, she connects with new and existing students in the Whanganui/South Taranaki regions to support their learning journey.
Education background
Tiffany started work in ECE in 2008. Since then she has taught in private centres, kindergartens, home based education and care, and primary school. She was an Across sector lead for her local Kāhui Ako, which nurtured her interest in education across sectors. Now that interest is served through tertiary education, which she has been involved with since 2020.
Research background
Her masters thesis explored across sector collaboration in one Kāhui Ako. Tiffany was especially interested in how early education was included in Kāhui Ako, and what benefits teachers saw for themselves and their learners when they collaborated with others from different sectors. Previous experience with Kāhui Ako compelled her to explore this topic, as well as her interest in social forms of leadership and learning.
Teaching interests
Tiffany believes it is every learner’s right to an education that nurtures the entire self. The ultimate goal is learners will have a strong sense of self, an understanding of their place in the world, and an appreciation of what it means to be a citizen of Aotearoa.
