Role
As a Lecturer | Kaiako at Te Rito Maioha, Leena teaches in the Bachelor of Teaching – Primary programme which includes mentoring tauira and supporting them during their practicum.
Education background
Leena has been a resourceful educator in the primary sector with over twenty-five years of experience. She believes in striking a balance in using traditional as well as modern collaborative teaching approaches in the classroom. Leena believes that students can thrive well in an environment where they feel safe and accepted.
Research background
Leena believes in establishing open communication and positive relationships with students. She thinks that providing a supportive environment is key to developing academic growth in students.
Teaching interests
Leena’s teaching interest is driven by engaging in ethical, respectful, positive and collaborative professional relationship with tauira and the teaching community. She also strives to encourage the understanding of cultural diversity with manaaki and empathy.
