TeachNZ scholarships support students on their journey towards being a great teacher or kaiako, by covering the cost of their course fees and paying them an allowance throughout the duration of their study.
The programme is inclusive and rewards outstanding applicants. Outstanding to TeachNZ goes beyond academic achievement. The programme recognises passion, leadership, good communication, lived experiences and also places value on Māori and Pacific cultural competencies and language skills.
2022 TeachNZ Career Changer Sholarship applications open from 15 September - 13October 2022
Applications for all other TeachNZ scholarships will open on 17 January 2023 and close 14 February 2023.
The programme is available for any student planning to enrol, or already enrolled in any year of their study on an approved immersion or te reo Māori Initial Teacher Education course.
The 2023 approved teaching qualifications have been determined by the Teaching Council. A full list of the approved courses on the TeachNZ website.
Applicants can apply for as many different scholarships as they wish, but only accept one.
