Teachers, our future – forging ahead together

He Kaiako o te āpōpō – Hei waka eke noa

It is with a heavy heart that Te Rito Maioha has cancelled this year’s conference, scheduled to take place in Auckland on 2-3 October 2021

It is very disappointing, but we know that you will understand that under the circumstances of our Covid environment we have no choice but to put everyone’s safety first.

Feedback from the sector was that a face-to-face event, where people could network and connect was just what was needed following the challenges of 2020.

Although we have tried our utmost to deliver this opportunity for a second time, we value the wellbeing of those in the sector too much to continue with an event that requires coming together in person.

Covid-19 has taught us a lot about how we can continue to offer support to our members, kaiako, students and others in early childhood education, and we look forward to bringing that knowledge to the fore in our future events and with your support.

The uptake of online professional learning and development opportunities has been amazing over the last week and we know kaiako are making the most of this time to add to their knowledge, further demonstrating the commitment and dedication kaiako have toward their profession. We will continue to provide further professional development opportunities throughout the year. We thank you for your support and loyalty and we always welcome feedback on what specifically you might like in terms of your ongoing learning to enhance your teaching practices.

For those already registered, registration costs will be refunded in full.
