Life Stories on the Frontline: Growing a childcare movement in Aotearoa

Ngā kohinga kōrero a te aumangea: Kia mana te ara kōhungahunga ki Aotearoa

Life Stories on the Frontline honours the 26 Life Members of Te RIto Maioha Early Childhood New Zealand and tells the stories of their contribution to the New Zealand Association of Child Care Centres founded by Sonja Davies in 1963.

More broadly the book charts the growth of a childcare movement founded on an aspiration of quality early childhood education for all children. The narratives provide a fresh window into the Association's story and the history of childcare in Aotearoa through the remembered events, influences, challenges, battles and reflections of 26 key participants and witnesses to the journey.

Life Stories on the Frontline becomes a companion book to earlier histories marketing the organisation's 40th and 50th jubilee celebrations respectively: Concerning women considering children: Battles of the Childcare Association 1963-2003, and Ngā āhuatanga hurihuri o te tiaki tamariki. The changing fortunes of childcare 2003-2013.
