In her current role as Pouako for Manukau takiwā ako, Alicia supports tauira and kaiako navigating te ao māori and the bicultural kaupapa of Te Rito Maioha ECNZ.
Education Background
Initially, Alicia studied primary school teaching before she changed her career to ECE. She is passionate about working with tamariki and enjoys guiding future Kaiako to help them strengthen quality teaching practices..
Research Background
Alicia’s research interests include inclusive practice of children with diverse needs and social justice. She strongly believes that Māori should succeed as Māori and everyone has the right to equitable opportunities. Alicia aims to undertake Masters studies in Contemporary Education in August 2023.
Teaching Interests
Alicia’s teaching practice is underpinned by te Tiriti based practices and is driven by values and beliefs that advocate for quality pedagogical practices.
