      Leadership and Mentoring: Opportunities for Associate Teachers Through the Practicum Experience
This online webinar considers that through being an associate teacher in the practicum experience offers teachers the opportunity to view this as a leadership role.

This PLD is aimed at teachers in Early Childhood services that have tauira in their centres on their practicum experiences. It is also aimed at teachers who aspire to be associate teachers or are wanting a leadership role.
This PLD will introduce participants to the following:
- Conceptualising leadership as influence with purpose.
- The four principles of leadership: mentoring; relationships; communication; and passion (Woolston’s research).
- The elements of effective mentoring in the AT (LT and mentoring) roles.

Debbie Woolston is a Pūkenga Matua – Senior Lecturer at Te Rito Maioha – Early Childhood New Zealand. Debbie’s early childhood career spans nearly 40 years in the kindergarten sector in both teacher/head teacher roles and now with Te Rito Maioha ECNZ.
